Early Childhood Center (ECC)
The Jenison Public Education Foundation is proud to have funded grants for a greenhouse, supplies, fruit trees, bushes, and materials for a chicken coop for the ECC. The ECC has taken that project to new, unexpected, and amazing levels! They have begun to work with community organizations and have grown enough produce to donate to local families in need.
Teaching even the youngest of children to plant, maintain, and harvest has been shown to foster a sense of wonder and imagination, provide hands-on experiences, and bring a joy to learning.
This greenhouse and supplies were purchased by JPEF in for the Jenison Early Childhood Center. This has become an important part of the center’s nature, environment, earth science, and other curriculums. In addition, the ECC has partnered with local agencies to pair seniors and young children together to maintain and tend the greenhouse plants. This is a great example of how these funded programs can not only benefit our children but others in the community as we partner together!
